Important Information for Participants

Dear congress participants,

This page provides useful information to all participants attending the 24th IPSA World Congress of Political Science which will be held in Poznań, 23-28 July 2016. Please familiarize yourself with the information on the Venue page as well as the Congress MAP of Poznań.

Information stands will be located at the Poznań-Ławica Airport  and the Poznań Główny Main Railway Station to greet Congress participants with a welcome package and direct them to the required services.

A Participant Index has been created to help you view the roles and schedules of individual participants.

Paper authors were expected to submit their full papers by July 1, 2016. You may also view all submitted full papers in the Online Paper Room, available to IPSA online account holders.

Full papers are to be submitted by the main author in PDF format from My Congress user menu. View Guidelines and Instructions to upload your full paper.

Guidebook Mobile App for WC2016

Download the Guidebook mobile app to enhance your IPSA World Congress experience in Poznań. This customized mobile app lets you navigate the conference schedule, activities, exhibitors, maps & floor plans and other useful information. In addition, you can create your own schedule, post photos and follow other delegates. The app is compatibles with iPhones, iPads, Android devices as well as computers.


Registration

Pick up your badge

Registered participants can pick up their congress badge, bag and program at the registration area (Pre-registered participants), located on the 1st floor of the Poznan Congress Center - Pavilion 15 (PCC-15). These will be organized in alphabetical order by the first letter of the participant’s last name (as it appears in the online profile). View the Venue page or the Congress MAP to locate PCC-15. Use entrance B to access Pavilion 15.

Accompanying Persons
Paid participants may purchase an accompanying person badge for immediate family members onsite at the Congress. The registration fee per accompanying person is $80 USD payable only by credit card (MC or Visa) or cash (USD or Euro) on site at the New Registrations counter.


Certificates of Participation

Only participants that have requested a certificate in the registration form and and fulfilled all their roles and obligations  will receive a certificate of attendance. Paper presenters, panel chairs and panel discussants will be able to pick up their certificates in person at the registration area after their panel has taken place at the Pre-registered counter during the Registration hours.

Note that participants cannot pick up certificates on behalf of another individual, or prior to their scheduled panel.

The electronic version (PDF) of the certificate will be available to all participants who attended the Congress in the Registration section of MyCongress user menu after July 28, 2016.


Presentation Equipment and Internet

Each presentation room will be equipped with a computer, a screen and a projector. Please note that remote presentations (via Skype) are not acceptable.

WiFi Internet is available in all panel rooms. Select the strongest network available: mtp-1 or mtp-2. The password to connect to the PCC WiFi is LatonaTargach.

Please note: Your name, contact and institution information will appear on the documents exactly as it appears in your online IPSA account profile. If you wish to update the contact or institution information on the documents, please update your IPSA profile: http://www.ipsa.org/my-ipsa/profile/modify


Congress Venues

The 24th IPSA World Congress of Political Science will be held mainly at the Poznań Congress Center (also known as Poznan International Fair) as well as two secondary venues. Please familiarize yourself with the information on the Venue page as well as the Congress MAP of Poznań, indicating the location of Congress venues (PCC and Morasko Campus - AMU), hotels, airport, central train station and main attractions.

Rooms are selling out fast! Visit the Accommodation page to view the list of hotels and make a reservation.

The Convention Bureau also offers a 10% discount on the Poznań City Card to IPSA Congress participants. This is the best and least expensive way to get to know Poznań and the surroundings. We recommend that you purchase the card upon your arrival at the airport or the train station.

Getting Around

Public Transportation

Complimentary public transportation is offered to Congress participants during the IPSA World Congress upon presentation of the badge and a supporting photo ID and is valid between 23 and 29 July, 2016.

Buses and trams run every 12-20 minutes from 4:30am to 11:00pm (day service) and every half an hour from 11 pm. to 4.30am (night service).

Taxi

It is strongly recommended to use only one of the three incorporated taxi companies, which all take credit card payments:

  • RMI Taxi (+48 61 821-9219)
    Get a 20% discount if you mention IPSA and pay cash, 10% if you pay by credit card
  •  M1 Taxi (+48 61-822-2222)
    Get a 20% discount if you mention IPSA and reserve by phone.
    Get 20% off your fare with a discount card available at information desks.
  • Euro Taxi (+48 61-811-1111)    
    Does not offer any discounts but the company standards are higher.

The average taxi fare from the Central Train Station (Poznań Glowny) / Poznan Congress Center (PCC) to most hotels is zł 15-25 (€ 3.50-5.50).
The average taxi fare from the Poznan Ławica Airport to the Poznan Congress Center (PCC) or to most hotels is is zł 30-50 (€ 7.00-12.00).
Note that these are the average fares and are subject to variability; e.g. whether it's a day, night, weekday or a holiday tariff. Most hotels are located 1-5 km from PCC and the Main Train Station.

•    July 27: Origins of Poland (Ostrów Tumski-Cathedral Island)

All four walking tours are now complete and registration is closed.

If you can no longer participate in the IPSA World Congress please notify us by sending an email to wc2016@ipsa.org. Please note that cancellations received as of April 14, 2016 and no-shows will not be refunded as per the Refund Policy.
